THE BOAT:

The ‘Mini’ is a 21 ft racing yacht. It is the smallest Open Class yacht and very spectacular.

Why a POGO?

There are two types of boats that are raced in the mini –Transat. Prototypes and Series. Prototypes are the most extreme as they are often privately built using the latest materials and technology and sport deeper keels and larger sail areas than the Series boats. Series boats are those that are built by professional boat yards in quantities of at least ten. There are a few types but the Pogo is by far the most popular. Recently the Pogo was re-engineered as a Pogo mark 2. Crean is one of the new mark 2s.

Why ‘CREAN’?

GBR449 was named CREAN in honour of the Antarctic Explorer Tom Crean.
